DOG LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Connecticut State Law requires that all dogs six (6) months of age must be licensed in the town in which they reside.

Licenses are valid for one year – July 1^st through June 30^th – and are renewed every year during the month of June.

To obtain a license, you must submit a valid rabies vaccination certificate issued by your veterinarian. If the dog has been altered, you will also need to submit a spayed/neutered certificate.   

Dogs must always wear the tag.  A dog without a tag is presumed to be unlicensed and is not protected by law.

DOG LICENSING INFORMATION

Renew your dog license no later than July 1st to avoid a $1 per month penalty.

Only cash or check (payable to “Berlin Town Clerk”) accepted.

To license by mail, please include the following:

• For licenses renewed after July 1st there is a state penalty of $1.00 per month
• Dog license application form: Owner name, address, telephone number, and your dog's name, age, breed and color
• Valid copy of your dog's rabies information (including vaccination expiration date)
• Spayed/neutered certificate, if applicable
• Self-addressed stamped envelope to return the tag & documents.
• Fee for spayed/neutered dog: $8.00
• Fee for unaltered male/female dog: $19.00
